The Illinois Sports Facilities Authority (ISFA), developer, owner and operator of U.S. Cellular Field, will host the Chicago Fire Department’s 8th annual “Safety for Life” Fair. The fair, consisting of safety programs that include bicycle, railroad, fire and school bus safety, is an effort by the CFD to help Chicago youth learn the proper steps to take in a medical emergency situation. Children will also have the opportunity to experience firsthand a mock 911 center and Emergency Room, and the Survive Alive Smoke House. Fourth and fifth grade students selected to participate in the safety fair were the winners of CFD’s safety-themed art contest and will be honored at the award ceremony. Receiving an honorary Citizens Award is 9-year-old Gabrielle Mitchell, from Eberhart Elementary who helped to save her brother’s life by calling 911 and following the appropriate emergency actions.
